We Are A MassHealth Dental Provider

MassHealth offers dental benefits to eligible children and adults.

In general, you are eligible for the dental benefit if you are enrolled in one of the following MassHealth coverage types:

CarePlus
MassHealth Limited (emergency only)
Children’s Medical Security Plan

Covered Services for Children (under age 21)

Dental services that are available at Aleris Salem Dental Center for your child include:

Anesthesia
Cleanings (2 times per calendar year)
Crowns
Dentures
Extractions (tooth-pulling)
Fillings
Fluoride (every 90 days)
Oral exams (2 times per calendar year)
Oral surgery
Root canal treatments
Sealants (on permanent molars)
Space maintainers
X rays (Four Bitewings, Pano, FMX)
Any other medically necessary dental service

Services for Adults (members age 21 and older)

MassHealth members aged 21 and older are eligible for dental services performed by one of our dentists in Aleris Salem Dental Center. Adult members who are Department of Developmental Services (DDS) clients receive a different dental benefit package than adults who are not DDS clients. Examples of covered dental services for adults include:

Extractions (tooth-pulling)
Fillings
Oral exams (2 times per calendar year)
Some oral surgery (such as removal of impacted teeth, biopsies, soft-tissue surgery)
X rays (Four Bitewings, Pano, FMX)

(DDS)

Anesthesia
Cleanings (2 times per calendar year)
Dentures
Extractions (tooth-pulling)
Fillings
Oral exams (2 times per calendar year)
Oral surgery
Root canal treatment (on front teeth)
X rays (Four Bitewings, Pano, FMX)

Certain otherwise not covered restorative and endodontic services, if the covered service presents undue medical risk.

Some services may need to be approved by MassHealth before our dentists can provide them. Our dentists will know which services these are and will request approval from MassHealth. You do not need to do anything to request approval.

Members eligible for MassHealth Limited are eligible for emergency dental services.
